The Mothlight is Asheville, North Carolina's premier event venue. Founded by Mac McCaughan, an American musician based in North Carolina, it offers a variety of performances from some of the best talents in the area. Whether you're looking for live music, comedy acts, or movie showings in a cinema-inspired atmosphere, there is sure to be something to catch your eye.
The Mothlight has been around since 2012, providing quality acts of varying genres from folk to punk and even hip-hop. It serves as an extension of their creative partner, the nearby rock venue, The Gray Eagle, which has been around since 2005, giving music patrons an array of musical choices in one area. This sparks creativity and diversity among locals connected to culture and celebrates expansion amongst the local artistic community, pushing them to think outside the box every week.
Asheville is a vibrant mountain city nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina. It is home to festive nightlife and a range of international cuisines. There are plenty of interesting neighborhoods such as the River Arts District, downtown, Biltmore Village, along Haywood Road, and West Asheville with their unique charm. You can enjoy outdoor activities like hiking at nearby Linville Falls or Chimney Rock State Park, biking in Bent Creek, white water rafting on the French Broad River, or scenic drives through Pisgah National Forest. There are also plenty of indoor activities, from art studios and museums to breweries crafting some of the best craft beers in America. Don't forget to experience local flavors like craft cocktails at neighborhood watering holes or fresh fare at local restaurants, ranging from Italian ones with brick oven pizzas to farm-to-table bistros that offer organic options.
